So sometime not so long ago I had the joy of visiting A Journey Round my Skull, a website by Will, which set up a contest for illustrating Bertha the FlowerChild by Raymond Roussel, which I had translated for my anthology Surrealist Painters and Poets, and what a delight it was.
And on the opposite pole, I just read Daniel Mendelsohn's The Lost, and what a masterpiece it is. Harrowing and brilliant and illuminating in wonderful and terrible ways. In short, a masterpiece.
